so the broker gives me 100,000 and i deposit 1,000 so i the hundred grand and 1000 can like i think the eur will beat the dollar (euusd) (idk what tf but ok) but idk russia launches nukes on europe and the eur falls 20,000 pips so i lost about 100 grand plus my 100. Leverage is like taking one hundred thousand, and basically indebting your self with 100 grand because you lost the trade right? -hundred grand HOW DO PEOPLE TRADE HUNDRED THOUSAND IN A WHAT IS AN ARENA OF CHANCE?
I just started studying forex and want to reduce my leverage to 1:1 while I figure things out (read: after I'm done paper trading and move to real trades). I can't figure out how to do this. For that matter, I can't tell whether I'm using leverage, or not, when using PaperMoney. The docs and videos are all explaining margin, which I understand. I want to control the parameters. Any suggestions? Edit: the more I read about trading forex, the more I realize I'm not ready for the answer to the above question, and probably won't trade forex for a long time.

Hi I was trading on trading212 where the leverage was 1:300 so trading with $500 or even $200 was a good amount to trade with. They now changed the leverage to 1:30 so trading with $200 only makes you profit or lose pennies. Another broker Oanda's highest leverage 1:50 which is similar to 1:30. Does anybody know any brokers that offer 1:300, 1:200, or 1:100. Also, why is the leverage so low as it makes it impossible for newer traders to trade with anything unless they have around 10k to blow?
IB cut forex leverage, but margin still reacts as though it's leveraged
I don't have $10 million USD, but if I put in 33 for USD.JPY, margin goes up by 1. I put in a trade for 26K and my margin went up 780, that's 33:1. Am I not affected or am I misinterpreting what's happening? Edit: So I played with some insane numbers with the "check margin" preview window and it appears I can get up to my 2x buying power, and then I can't submit the order with this message: Order increases leveraged FX position.
It is commonly known as the “double edged sword” in forex trading. It can be as high as 1000:1 but generally is around the 100:1 to 500:1 range. Some countries by law may impose ever lower leverage ratios. At a leverage of 100:1, if you had an account balance of just $1,000 you can trade $100,000 worth of currency. Furthermore, Forex brokers offer leverage ranging from 1:5 to 1:1000 or even more sometimes and traders need to decide what leverage is suitable for them. Leverage is an extremely important part of every successful trading strategy. So, Forex leverage can be used successfully and profitably with proper management. Keep in mind that the leverage is totally flexible and customizable to each trader's needs and choices. Now having a better understanding of Forex leverage, find out how trading leverage works with an example. The short answer is no. 50:1 leverage is the maximum amount of leverage aloud within the united states. This is because the US regulation forbids forex brokers in the united states to offer leverage above 50:1 or 2%. Forex trading in the USA is regulated by the NFA (National Futures Association) and the CFTC. Leverage could be as high as 1:1,000 in Forex trading and while this may sound a bit too extreme for novices, there is a good reason why Forex is typically associated with high leverage ratios. In the foreign exchange market, exchange rate movements are measured in pips (“percentage in point”) – a unit of change that is just a fraction of ...
